i have a pension with scotish widows and last year took my 25% tax free amount. i left my job in november last year and my total earnings from that employment were 10k. as a year had passed since i took my 25% tax free amount i asumed i would be able to take another drawdown from my pension that was under the personal allowance of 12.5k per annum without it being taxed! how wrong i was they took 4k from me in tax...?? have i misunderstood the way personal allowance is calculated? what is going on...i'll be calling scotish widows tomorrow to get to the bottom of this fiasco you can bet...even when i was earning my full sallery of 14k i didnt get taxed 4k from it so what the .....is going on? any ideas?

It would depend on what tax code has been operated. As we would need to access your record to reivew this, you will need to contact our Income Tax team.
