Hi, I have no relevant earnings but would need to pay income tax for the amount of bank interest received. In such a way, I am an income tax payer. If I pay £2880 to my SIPP, will I get £720 tax relief? I have read the tax guidelines but it just says if you do not pay income tax, you can get the tax relief.

Hi mimifefe,
Yes you still qualify for the relief - Tax on your private pension contributions.
Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to have further information about that if I have relevant earnings less than £2880, (for example, £1250) and I pay £2880 to my SIPP, will I still get £720 or £1250 x 20% = £250 as tax relief? Thanks.

Hi,
The threshold is £3600. If you pay in £2880, your pension provider can claim £720 tax relief which bring you up to £3600.
Thank you.
