Afternoon. My employer has changed how BIK is now completed so will now be via payrolling. I receive a company car allowance of £350 and also BIK for private health care. These have always been demonstrated on my wage slip as such. Now my net pay has increased by around £600 per month (with no pay rise) and the BIK company car in gross is expressed as the total cost per month to me before tax as is the private health care. This change has resulted in my deductions on PAYE and NI increasing and costing me £180 a month more.. I appreciate this is a lot of information perhaps even poorly explained but can any help please ?

Hi ,

If these benefits were previously included in your tax code and they are now taxed through payroll
please ensure your tax code has been updated to remove them.

You can check your tax code by logging into your personal tax account. Go to

The benefits taxed through payroll would be subject to tax at your highest rate plus national insurance.

You would need to speak to your employer if you feel the BIK amounts they are including are too high .

Thank you .
