Hi have a client who is a trustee and have just sold the property in the trust. We have completed the CGT return (nothing due) but has proceeds of £150,000. The client now wants to give the three beneficiaries £50,000 each as instructed by the trust. My question is do the individual's have to declare this on their own self-assessment? My understanding is not, as the payments are capital not income. I have asked HMRC and received different answers.
