My PAYE code changed in 2023 to reflect personal contributions made to my pension. If I no longer make these personal contributions but my PAYE code has remained the same, will this affect my tax payments and potentially be reflected in my self assessment as underpaying tax? If so, do I need to contact HMRC to amend the tax code back to the standard personal allowance? Thanks.

Hi,

If you no longer make the pension contributions then you will need to contact our Self Assessment team to update your tax code otherwise this could result in you underpaying your tax.
