I received a refund cheque as I left the country mid-way through the tax year. At no time during the online assessment was I given the opportunity to opt for a bank transfer. The original check was issues in December, but was lost in the post. The second check arrived in late February. I do not have a UK bank account that will accept cheque deposit. I tried to open a new account with a different bank, but the bank declined as I don't have a UK address. I have tried everything I can think of to open an account at another UK bank, but to no avail. I am stuck with this very large cheque. I would like to return this cheque to HMRC and provide the bank details for the account I want the money transferred to. Is this possible? What is the process? If this is not possible, what can I do to get this money that I am owed?

Hi kyleharry87,
We can send a replacement cheque to a nominee, who you appoint and who has a UK bank account.
