Hi, I am very new to this IT Contracting. In my HMRC self assessment account, Taxes are shown for the year ending 05 April. But I have not worked for the period 2023-24. So I am a bit confused about it. Is there a way to let HMRC know about my current situation. My last Contract ended in October 31, 2022. If anybody can please explain how to go about this...

If a Self Assessment return has been requested but you did not earn anything in that year, you can confirm that it is no longer needed here:

If you no longer need to send a tax return

Or you can contact our Self Assessment team.
