I am a self-employed tax-paying UK resident, but I am a non-citizen (Canadian). A friend (non-family) from the USA is considering giving me a cash gift. Would this be taxable? Would it be considered part of my income on my self assessment? I have seen other similar questions, but they normally involve family and not friends, so I thought I would ask again.

Hi clc3101,
No, cash gifts are not taxable income.
Thank you.
