Hi, I'm looking to move to Spain and keep working for my UK employer. I'm an Italian citizen, so I can legally reside and work in Spain without a visa. I also have Settled status in the UK. The company I work for is registered in the UK but does not have any legal entity in Spain. My questions are: - Can I still work for a UK based company even if I don't reside in the UK? If so, can they just keep me on PAYE and pay me to my UK bank account? - How does the tax work for the company? - How does the tax work for me? Thanks!

I also wanted to ask if the company has to do any additional paperwork for me to work abroad. Thanks

Hi,

You can see guidance here:

Tax on your UK income if you live abroad

Thank you.

Hi HMRC Admin 19, thanks for your response. I've already read that guidance, but it doesn't really answer my questions. Could you please help me a bit more? The tax on my part is clear, I just need to fill a P85 form and then pay taxes in Spain. What I'm not completely sure is what the company has to do: - Can they just keep me on PAYE and pay me to my UK bank account? - Are they liable to pay taxes in Spain too?

Hi igiovann,

You complete the form P85, to advise that you still have UK employment, with one or more employers and that you will not be resident in the UK. We can then instruct your employer(s) to stop deducting tax from your earnings, as you will pay tax on this income in your country of residence.

Thank you.
