Hi I currently live in Hong Kong and im employed there with a working visa I also have some self employed income (contract for services income) a UK company pays fees to my personal UK bank account. I am Hong Kong tax resident Do I need to pay UK income tax on the contract for services income or do I report this in my country of residence and tax resident? Do I still need to do a UK Self assessment regardless?

Hi,

Please have a look at the UK / Hong Kong tax treaty at article 20(1) - other income. It advises you will be taxable in Hong Kong. You do not need to complete a Self Assessment tax return for this. You should check whether there are any other reasons for completing a tax return.

Thank you.
