I will be moving abroad in a few weeks, and I understand I need to complete a P.85 to let HRMC know. I plan to work abroad but do not yet have a job lined up. However, when I answer 'yes' to whether I will be working abroad I need to then complete information regarding the employer and when I will start the job which I cannot do as I do not yet have a job. How should I complete the employment section? I will also receive some UK income through bank interest, although I'm not sure how much. Will i be okay to estimate this? It also asks me when i started receiving this income - do I need to look into when I opened my accounts? Is it better to complete this form after I have left the UK and have secured a job?

Hi,
The only employment question the P85 should ask you after 'Will you be working full-time outside the UK' is 'Will you continue to have your salary paid from the UK', to which you can answer 'No' if your employer is not a UK employer.
You can estimate the amount of bank interest you expect to receive by the end of the year.
Please provide as exact a date as possible as to when you began receiving this interest.
If you would like further assistance in completing your P85, contact us by webchat or phone via:
Income Tax: general enquiries.
Thank you.
