My personal tax account has been showing ‘tax not calculated yet’ for year 23-24. I was told it was because banks hadn’t yet submitted interest information. Then this week it has been calculated an I owe a fair amount (to be expected). But no way of paying online. I called the information line and told I can ask for a payslip but will need to pay by cheque! So I have to order a cheque book from the bank and wait for that and this payslip to arrive. I then need to send it off, wait for it to be cleared and allocated. Meanwhile my tax code has been changed to a ridiculous number so this underpayment can be collected through my income. This underpayment has only just been calculated yet I’ve not been given the opportunity to pay other than by this outdated method. I haven’t had a cheque book in years. It will take many weeks to process and then how does my tax code change to reflect the payment?

Hi MummyL,
We are currently updating certain online payment functions for the start of the  tax year, so this can affect customers trying to make payments at this time, if you try again after the 7th April 2025 you shoud be able to succesfully pay online.
Thank you.

Hi there Thanks for your response. I had a letter today which should have had an accompanying payslip, however there wasn’t one in the envelope! So I may just wait until after 7th and hope I can pay online. Am I right in assuming that once I’ve paid and the funds have been allocated to my account, that my tax code will be adjusted to the correct one? Thanks.

Hi,
Once paid in full and applied to your account, your code should update automatically.
Thank you.
