Hi, I’m aware it’s possible to claim tax relief for such things as higher rate earners pension contributions. I recently realised that I was eligible and claimed for the tax year 23/24 and will do so going for the next. However I think I can claim for some years prior however I’m unsure if I can do this directly via the (new?) online claim service I’ve seen or if I can even claim directly via the post. My uncertainty is due to the fact I have to do self assessment tax returns - can I claim for this past years tax relief separately. (I’m unsure how I would claim for past years in the self assessment tax return). Thanks.

Sorry I don’t refer to amending the tax year 23/24 but as far back as 21/22? I never claimed tax relief for higher rate earners pension pension contributions - do i claim via the service here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-tax-relief-on-your-private-pension-payments Or via self assessment tax returns - the wording on this page is a bit confusing - I didn’t think you could claim past years (further back than the last submitted tax return year) so surely I use the service in that link or write a letter?
