Be self-employed when receiving Maternity Allowance?

I am a permanent employee of a startup company and I am currently on Maternity leave and receiving Maternity Allowance as I didn't qualify for SMP. Can I during my Maternity leave work on contract basis for 20hours a month for a another company? Will it affect my Maternity Allowance pay?

Sorry, but we are unable to answer your question regarding MA, this benefit is paid from the Department of Work and Pensions. 
Please contact then for advice.
