Good day. June 2023 I left my old job and started a new one. In the old job I had a company car and private medical. In March 2024 I picked up that I was still paying BIK tax on these. (New to uk and didn’t know had to remove off my profile) when I removed them my tax going forward was adjusted immediately (less tax, more income) but I am expecting that I will be refunded for July-Feb March for the all the tax payments I made on something I didn’t have. I still haven’t received anything from HMRC and it’s almost October? Should I be applying to be refunded?

Hi,
If the tax code was corrected prior to the end of the tax year(March 24) then any overpayment of tax you had prior to that should have been repaid automatcially through your pay.
If the code was only adjusted after Apr 24,then when the code was corrected it will have repaid anything overpaid after Apr 24 but nothing prior.
We would normally issue a tax calculation to yourself showing any overpayment you will have be due for 23/24 by now, but we may be waiting final BIK information from your previous employer.
It maybe best to contact us to check:

Thank you.
