Hi there, I am a PAYE higher rate taxpayer. My employer offers the "Vitality" private healthcare scheme which we could voluntarily sign up to. For personal reasons, I chose not to. I recently got automated messages welcoming me to the scheme, and when I queried it, was told I had been added so I could be covered by the the travel insurance element it offers, for when I go on work trips in future. (Travel Insurance is an optional add-on to the healthcare policy.) I am now concerned my P11D will include the whole policy premium as a taxable Benefit in Kind (i.e. including healthcare AND travel insurance) 1. Obviously I don't want to pay tax on a benefit I don't want and did not personally agree to. 2. Can I de-register from the scheme and thus remove any BIK amount (I have not used it) 3. I am not sure how to formally action/phrase the above with my employer Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
You will need to discuss this with your employer to ensure they report your benefits-in-kind correctly.
Thank you.
