Is the pension received from Belgium and other EU states (not private pensions) taxable in the UK or in the State that pays the pension? In this case we are a married couple and are UK citizens and resident. We complete self assessments every year but were resident in Europe prior to 2016 . In our specific case only one of us receives the Belgian state pension, Do we need to declare that on a Belgian tax return or a UK self assessment form?

Hi
The Belgian state pension is not taxable in the UK under the Double Taxation Agreement.
Any private pension received will b e taxable here.
For other EU countries it depends on the double taxation agreement as to whether the state pension is liable in the UK.
