Hi, I am working as a full time employee on PAYE with basic tax rate. If I have interest income from savings over £1,000 but less than £10,000. Do I need to submit a self assessment form to HMRC? I have ready through the HMRC "Tax on savings interest" page however it does not tell me how to notify HMRC about my interest income. What is correct method to notify HMRC? Many thanks.

Hi kc ng,
Sorry, no.
The banks normally give HMRC details of interest received. but you can send in details yourself for your record to be updated quicker.
Thank you.
