I have a pension in Malta from working overseas for many years. None of the funds were UK tax relieved and all relates to pre-2017 overseas employment. I am now UK tax resident. Can I take 25% of the pension as a tax-free lump sum (no UK income tax) - even if the size is more than the max UK tax free lump sum for UK tax relieved pensions? Or does the UK tax free limit apply?
