I have been a resident in the UK since 2020, and have been employed and paying Tax since March 2021. I am originally from South Africa and I need to access my Retirement Annuity in South Africa so that I can bring it over to the UK. I need to submit a CoR to the South African Revenue Service in order to do this. I have applied for the CoR but I received a Confirmation of Residence Letter instead stating that it can not be used for the Double Taxation Agreement. I am trying to find our what the reasons that I am unable to obtain the CoR. Can anyone assist me?

Hi,

A certificte of residence is only applicable when foreign income is actually received and you do not have this as yet.

The letter you have received will be sufficient for the purposes that you require it  .

Thank you.
