P85 Form

Hello, I submitted a P85 form to claim back tax as I have moved permanently to Brazil. Within 2 days I was sent a message saying that I owe HMRC £120 for the previous tax year (2022-23) but have heard nothing about this tax year (2023-24). I would like to know when I am likely to receive this information. It appears you are very fast to process the fact that I owe you money but very slow when it is the other way around. I believe I read somewhere it would take 14 days to process this form and would like to know if that is the case, please. In addition, would I be able to deduct the £120 from the amount you owe me when I finally receive this calculation? Many thanks

Hi
We start to perform the 22/23 calculation from the end of June.
The current timescale for P85 received by post to receive a reply is 12 weeks.
If we are able to offset the underpayment against any repayment due you will receive a letter confirming this when we have reviewed the P85 form.
