I am a Swiss Citizen living and working in the UK. I have worked in Germany previously and chose to pay into the voluntary German State Pension. I am planning to put in about 20´000 pounds into my german state pension account to account for the year 2022 and parts of 2023. Question: Is this payment tax deductible in the UK? As far as I can tell it is not a private pension scheme since this is the public German Pension scheme. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi PRAI_SE,
As this is not a private pension, there is no tax relief available.
Thank you.
