Hi, I am a UK Resident. I did a 12-week fellowship with a US-based organisation after graduating, remotely from the UK. I received a fellowship compensation of 6000 USD (approximately 5000 GBP). This was not a salaried position. My total income for the year did not exceed 12,570 GBP. Should I register for self-assessment, and am I required to pay tax on this income?

Hi,

As you are a UK resident, this income is taxable along side your UK income. You would need to declare it in a self assessment tax return. If you have not registered for self assessment before, you can do this at:

Check how to register for Self Assessment

Thank you.
