Hi I have a query regarding back payments of child benefit and tax years Hi I currently earn 75K PAYE and have earned a similar amount in previous years. In previous tax years before 24/25 I have not applied for child benefit. With the new 24/25 with some benefit after self assessment payments I applied for child benefit. I applied for child benefit on the 1/4/24, but I believe now that this was 5 days too early as it places the back payments in the 23/24 year? My intention was to fall into the 24/25 child benefit brackets. I received my first back payment yesterday (20/5/24) of £813.90. The child benefit "proof of entitlement " lists the start date for both of my children as 1 January 2024. With the payment of £813.90 will this fall in the 23/24 tax year (for which I am not entitled to any child benefit after paying tax on) Or will the £813.90 fall into the 24/25 year? If it does fall into the 23/24 year is there anyway that I could change this to the 24/25 year? thank you for your help
