Hi HMRC, I have been paid the 1st payment (22/23 tax fee $1000+ 23/24 pre-taxed 50% $500 on June 2023 ) & 2nd payment (23/24 pre-taxed 50% $500 on May 2024) when submitted self assessment tax return on 22/23, which included paid for Prepaid of 23/24. However, I didn't see the system automatic deduct that two times tax amount from my tax return 23/24 on 22May2024. And, I signed-in and checked there have show me "request a repayment" digit form in the item of "At the glance", which means I can apply for the refund from HMRC, however, that amount just claiming the 2nd payment of 23/24 prepaid 50%, is not 100% . So, what can I do? do HMRC would be deduct the 50% overpaid amount into my current tax refund?

Hi,

The payments on account are not included in the actual tax calculation. This will show the full amount of tax that is due to be paid. Your statement then updates this to take into account what you have paid already, which then leaves you with a balancing payment, if applicable.

Thank you.
