Hi, I have recently registered for Self assessment online after I realised I would have to pay a high income Child benefit charge. I have filed 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 as i owed a charge for these years, but I have noticed that the portal has flagged up 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 as "LATE". I earned less than £50000 for these older years, I was a 1 job/no additional pensions/benefits employee, so my question is: Do I need to submit these years as well?

Hi Daniel Ferguson,
You may have additional SA criteria that requires you to file a return for those years.
Alternatively, you may have registered to file from 19/20 when setting up your Self Assessment record.
Please contact us at:
Self Assessment: general enquiries
we can review your record and confirm if the requested returns are necessary.
Thank you.
