I submitted my self assessment tax return on the 30/10/2023. When I did so I selected the option to pay my self assessment tax through my PAYE code. I was checking my tax summary and found that not only could I see no record of my selection to repay my self assessment tax through my PAYE, I found that my payment was marked as overdue and that I've been charged interest for being late. I'm really confused as to why this has happened as I meet the criteria for being able to pay my self assessment tax through my PAYE code.

Hi Cece,
While there are a number of reasons why your payment may not have automatically been applied to your tax code,  please contact us by webchat or phone here:
Self Assessment: general enquiries
We can then review your record and confirm if we can still code out this balancing payment, or suggest alternatives.
We can also give more advice on any interest or penalties due.
Thank you.
