Hi I've been offered a new permanent job working from home. However, they have asked us to attend their head office at the other end of the country for two consecutive days each calendar month - we can pick the days. So in theory sometimes the set of two days could be almost consecutive. But then another set could be virtually two months apart. Would I be able to claim travel expenses from my home to the head office for these two days per month? They have said they would pay them if permitted by HMRC. There is no specific purpose or practical benefit for us attending the office two days a month and other than some face to face meetings would be doing exactly the same work as we do at home.
