My State Pension became payable in Jan 2023. My tax code was altered and my NHS occupational pension was reduced by an amount consistent with tax being taken for the State pension On the Self Assesment form I have entered, as requested, the weekly amount of State Pension multiplied by the number of weeks I received to the end of the tax year. 2023. Entering this figure has caused my tax payable to increase by close to £500. I was under the impression that this tax was already being collected via PAYE through my NHS pension.

Hi b-mark,
If your adjusted code was operated by your pension provider as soon as it was issued, there may be other factors causing this £500 calculation.
