I retired in July and have been claiming flat rate expenses for uniform and professional subscriptions for many years. Three questions; 1) Can I claim full £80 flat rate expenses for uniform as I was at work April to July? 2) Can I sill claim for is year's annual professional subscription that I paid in May when I was still at work? 3) Next tax year, if I am not working, can I claim for the professional subscription I need to pay to keep myself on a register and maintain my post nominals?

Hi,

You are entitled to the expense for the full year, even if you stop working during the tax year. To claim professional subscription expenses, you must be in paid employment. If you will not be in paid employment in the next tax year, you will be unable to claim the expense for professional subscriptions.

Thank you.
