Hi there, I came to live in UK on 17 January 2023 while my overseas employment only ended on 15 March 2023. Under the statutory residency test, it seems that I pass the third automatic overseas test and am therefore considered non tax resident for the year 2022-2023. Do I need to submit self assessment tax return for that year? Thanks

Hi,

Yes, a tax return will be required so that you can declare that you were not resident in the 2022 to 202323 tax year.

Thank you.
