I just paid off a hospital bill that was incurred by my wife that at the time was not eligible for NHS benefits. Can I deduct this expenses from my self assessment.

Hi ,
 
You can only claim expenses that are wholly, necessarily and exclusively incurred in the performance of your own duties -

as such, the costs you refer to are not allowable.
