I entered UK with a valid visa in May 2022, and became a UK tax resident within the tax year of 2022/2023. I have submitted my Self Assessment tax return online last month. However in my personal-account/self-assessment-summary page, there is a green button stating "Complete Self Assessment return 2021 to 2022", apart from the "Complete Self Assessment return 2022 to 2023" that I have already done. Do I need to fill in the tax return for 2021/2022 as well, even if I am not yet a UK tax resident? There is a note next to the green button stating "Penalties may be charged for late returns. File your return now.", which is rather worrying. Your prompt reply will be very much appreciated.
