Personal savings allowance

When entering savings allowance into self assessment, should the £1000 allowance be deducted first or does HMRC work it out later. Also does it apply to foreign savings interest? I cannot find where to claim the £1000 allowance. Any suggestions most welcome. thanks

No, you do not deduct this as it is given automatically in the calculation and it will apply to UK and foreign interest.

Why does the Personal Savings Allowance not show on Self Assessment calculation??
