After submitting my tax returns as a partnership through an accountant for the past 8 years, I have decided to do it myself via the HMRC self assessment website. What I need to know is, did my accountant have to register a new partnership for me and my partner every year, or is it continuous? I have filled in my tax return, as has my partner, but before we submit them, I need to know if the partnership we had with each other needs to be dissolved?

Hi Mike Hughes,
As long as the partnership continues to exist, the SA800, should continue to be submitted with the same partnership UTR number, by the nominated partner.
If the nominated partner has changed, this will need to be confirmed to HMRC in writing for the tax return to be accepted.
If the partners choose to disolve the partnership and create a new one, a new partnership UTR will be required.
Thank you.
