I've registered in May for self assessment and heard nothing, Registered again in September and should of heard something by 10th October and yet still not received a UTR which i need to submit a self assessment to claim back higher rate tax on my pension contribution and pay higher rate child tax charge. Anyone else having an issues or having no response from the online help? its useless. Apart from waiting hours on the phone is there any other way to try get hold of the UTR??

Hi,
To find your UTR you can:
Sign in to your personal tax account
You can also find your Unique Taxpayer Reference on:
  • Previous tax returns
  • Emails from HMRC
  • Other documents HMRC has sent you.
Your UTR is a 10-digit number and may also be called 'tax reference'.
If you've already registered for Self Assessment you can find out when you should receive your UTR:
Check when you can expect a reply from HMRC
Thank you
