Hi, my Partner and I are joint foster carers. We both have full time PAYE jobs and our income from being foster carers is well within the qualifying tax relief meaning there will be no tax to pay. Can one of us complete the self assessment tax return or do both of us need to complete a self assessment return? If both of us are required to complete a self assessment, do we split the qualifying tax relief 50/50?

Hi,

You both need to complete a return and split the qualifying relief.

Qualifying care relief for carers (Self Assessment helpsheet HS236)

Thank you.
