self assessment test for 2021-2022

I came to UK on July 2022 which is in 2022-2023 tax year and I wasn't in UK in 2021-2022 April. HMRC wrote to me asking me to do the self assessment for 2021-2022 but I am a tax resident outside the UK. I would like to ask must I still do the self assessment for 2021-2022

You might as it depends on any UK income that you receive.
