I have been using the actual costs for mileage in my universal credit but have noticed that I would be better off using the flat rate. Is it possible to use the flat rate at the end of the tax year for self assessment, despite using the actual costs for universal credit? Also, is it possible to now change to flat rate costs on universal credit because it asks me each month which option I would like to choose. Many thanks

Hi JodieH,
If claiming for using your car for business then yes you can use HMRC approved rates on your Self Assessment.
You would need to contact universal credit regarding your claim.
