This will be my first year filing self assessment as a US/UK citizen resident in UK. I'm retired living on US Social Security pension. No other income. I've opted to have Social security continue to deduct Medicare premiums from my monthly pension check until we know for certain we won't be returning to live in the US. as it's costly and complicated to stop the deductions and continue again in the future as the penalties are quite bad. Premium is about 1600 pounds/year Is this an allowed deduction on self assessment foreign income reporting?

Hi Brian Courtney,
Sorry, no this is not an allowable expense.
Thank you.
