Hello, I am a hackney taxi driver, reading through the simplified expenses pages (https://www.gov.uk/simpler-income-tax-simplified-expenses/vehicles-) it seems that there are exceptions for certain types of vehicle. Within the page it states: cars (except those designed for commercial use, for example, black cabs, hackney carriages or dual control driving instructors’ cars) My car is registered as a Hackney carriage, however is it a standard M1 class estate car and so was not designed for commercial use, does that mean that I am allowed to use simplified expenses?

Hi Jason White,
Yes, as this was not originally a commercial use car.
Thank you.
