I have not yet received a tax code notice for 6 April 2024 to 5 April 2025. However, my tax code has been adjusted and when I view the following in my personal tax account. "Your PAYE Income Tax summary for 6 April 2024 to 5 April 2025" It shows "Underpayment from previous year" with a value. Should I enter this value on the following section on the self assessment form. "Amount of estimated underpaid tax for 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024 to be included in your PAYE tax code for 6 April 2024 to 5 April 2025 (from your PAYE Notice of Coding). Please enter '0' if there is nothing shown:"

Or, can I just enter 0 here. I looks likely that some of this underpayment from a previous year has already been collected on a 23/24 K*** X tax code. When you get my P60 data from my employer and generate my official 24/25 tax code notice, will you balance everything up? Issue a refund if necessary. Thanks.

Hi
To confirm where the underpayments in your code come from, and how to subsequently update your returns, we would need to review your records. Contact us by webchat or phone via Self Assessment: general enquiries to allow us to do this.
