Hi HMRC admin, I'm a doctor in specialty training and I have heard from a colleague that doctors who are in specialty training can claim 'substance allowance' for meals for each on-call we do, I was told that it is like £10 for each meal for every on-call shift (i.e. 12 hours shift), can you please confirm this? if so, how do I apply for this and what is the process for claiming? and How far I can claim back? Thank you

Hi amer2015,
This is not for HMRC to give.
You may want to discuss this with your employer who provide work benefits and subsistense payments as part of your employment contract.
Thank you.
