Hi, I have received my pension after arrival to the UK. To my understanding, According to the Double Taxation Treaty, it stated that pensions arose in Hong Kong are taxable only in Hong Kong. As such, do I need to declare my pension received? And if yes, in which part of the tax return should I declare to prevent double taxation? Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Article 17  of the UK/Hong Kong double taxation agreement. advises that "pensions and other similar remunerations" arising in Hong Kong and paid to a resident of the UK, in consideration of past employment, are only taxable in Hong Kong.

As this income is not taxable in the UK, it should not be shown on a self assessment tax return.
Thank you
