After I submitted my self assessment (to pay back child benefit), the final amount of tax due was more than what we were paid, after querying it turns out the extra amount was for student loan, I’ve now spoken to student loans and they have removed the extra amount. With the deadline in 2 days, if my final amount doesn’t update in time to I pay what the website says or what I know it has been update to (but not showing up yet)? Thanks.

Hi,
If you pay the amount showing as due and this amount is subsequently calculated down, any amount overpaid will then be present as a credit.
This can be refunded back to you, or stay on your account to be credited against future Self Assessment bills.
Thankyou.
