Refund waiting checks

Hi. I was told a month ago that my refund would be checked and credited back to myself on the 4th Sept 2024. My account rang on the 4th Sept 2024 and was told it had been processed and payment was imminent. Today when I called I was told it was STILL PENDING SECURITY! And can take another 4 weeks. Why do I never get a straight answer.
