Self assessment number and Tile have appeared in my Government Gateway account

I have never filled in a self assessment form before. When logging into my Government Gateway account today I see that I now have a self assessment number and a tile to click on to complete a self assessment. Does this mean I am meant to complete a self assessment? All my tax is paid by PAYE so there should be no need for me to complete one but I don't want to end up getting fined if I'm supposed to complete one.

It would show on your online accunt if a tax return is due for the last tax year, 2023 to 2024. You can check if you meet the criteria for Self Assessment here:
