Hello, I am filling out my self-assessment for the tax year 2023-2024. As I was close to paying off my loan, I switched from PAYE to direct debit payments prior to the start of the tax year and paid off my student loan in September 2023. I answered 'yes' to the question 'Did you receive notification from Student Loans Company that repayment of an Income Contingent Student Loan began before 6 April 2024'. When asked how much was paid via PAYE I input £0 as it was all paid via direct debit. I then get a Student Loan tax charge at the end. Please could you advise how I should be allowing for my student loan in the tax return? I've read through the help pages and can't see anything which answers my query.
