Good morning. Please see my questions below: 1) I have received a critical illness payment. Based on discussions with my insurers and reading HMRC manuals (https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/insurance-policyholder-taxation-manual/iptm6010), I believe this payment is not taxable. Can you please confirm if this is the case and whether the payment needs to be added to a Self Assessment tax return? 2) I have received funding (to cover accommodation and flights) to complete a research project oversees. The funding was provided by a charity and the project will help with some aspects of my current job (I am in full-time employment). I received three payments over the course of 6 months. Does this need to be added to a Self Assessment tax return and, if so which section should it be added to? Many thanks in advance for your help with the above.
