Hello, I have recently received a simple assessment tax calculation for 2023/24, saying that I owe a certain amount. However, I filled a self assessment some months ago for that tax year, and paid the calculated amount. Does the simple assessment that I've received replace my self assessment? Should I do a new payment? What will happen with the money that I already paid for the self assessment? Thanks in advance,

Hi Andres Pena,
We need to look at your Self Assessment account for us to confirm the details you are requesting.

Not HMRC...no, it doesnt replace it. The record hasnt been tied up (happens usually when its a voluntary SA)...call/webchat HMRC, advise them you have already done SA and unless HMRC have an issue with anything on the SA the calculation you just received will be cancelled.
